So a while back I saw a blog devoted to artwork of The Royal Tennenbaums. I was surprised to see that no one had really done any of Anjelica Houston. So I did this today.
I think I might send it on over to James for kicks.
So I have this drawing that I did when I was little. It's the earliest piece of art that I have. Since I just got a tablet I wanted to color it without changing any of the line art. 20-some years in the making folks.
I plan on doing many sketches and pieces inspired by Twilight but this one I did real quick after my homework and now I am going to bed. Took me about an hour and I actually really like it.
This is Jacob Black from the Twilight series. Mostly how I picture him looking in Book 2: New Moon. I know he is young but the book states he looks like he is in his 20's. Anyway, I will do more later.
Malingo was tough because every time I drew him he just looked like friggin Jar Jar Binks. Physically, the character was similar but I had to play with highlighting his differences.
Mater Motley is just creepy and I wanted her dress/coat to look like it could kill you on its own.
So here is my Squiller and Boats from Abarat. Squiller was fun but a challenge as I had to play with how he would wrao himself around Candy's face. These boats are pretty much yanked from Polly and the Pirates but I like the idea of the boats being houses and want to expand more on this later.
So my first Illustration assignment this semester was Visual Development for a book that hasn't been made into a film. I chose my favorite book, Abarat by Clive Barker. I had done some sketches for it a while back but this was my chance to just improve on old designs and paint them in a new way.
As I get the time over the next few days I will scan and post them all. Here is Candy. Tomorrow expect Mischief and Shape.
